WAYS TO GIVE
Donations Provide Vital Support to VNAPC’s Mission
The Visiting Nurse Association of Pottawattamie County (VNAPC) is a non-profit organization that has a long and distinguished history of providing home and community health services. The goal of VNAPC is simple…to care for people – at home or in the community – and serve the health care needs of all persons without regard to race, color, national origin, disability or age.
The Visiting Nurse Association of Pottawattamie County depends on community support to aid their mission of providing home health care. Donations allow us to be sensitive to clients’ ability to pay, assist in the support of current programs, as well as the development of new health programs, and to help purchase supplies and medical equipment.
With your generosity, we can continue to be a life-span partner by bringing our home care services to new mothers and their babies, people recovering from an illness at home, the elderly, and the terminally ill and their families. You can make contributions in the following ways:
Cash Gift: A direct way to support client care services.
Memorial Gift: This provides a meaningful way to honor the life of a friend, family member or colleague. Memorial gifts can be given directly to the VNAPC, or families of clients cared for by the VNAPC can request that memorial gifts be sent to us. Memorial funds are established by publishing your desire that donations be made to the VNAPC in funeral notices and obituaries.
Honor Gift: You may also recognize someone’s achievement or a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary or retirement by making a contribution in his or her honor. We will notify the honoree of your thoughtful gift. To assure that all information is correct and that VNAPC has a contact person for questions, please download and fill out the donor form and mail it to VNAPC.
Charitable Gifts/Bequests: A bequest is part of a will that allows people to make a donation to a non-profit agency after they pass away. The gift may be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of the estate, or an asset such as stocks or real estate. A bequest of any amount can make a big difference in improving the lives of others. A valid, up-to-date will is the only way to ensure that your wishes will be met after your death. In cases, where a will does not exist, the government distributes personal property according to state laws.
An accountant, lawyer or other advisor can help you through the will and bequest planning process, making sure your beneficiaries and favorite charities get the highest percentage possible of your estate to help minimize the amount given to taxes.
Most financial and estate planning experts recommend that you review your will every three years or whenever a major life event occurs such as a marriage or birth of a child. Changes can be made easily at any time with a codicil or addition.
Matching Gift: Many employers will match your donation, thereby doubling your gift. Matching gift forms may be available from your employer’s human resources office.
Gifts of Stock: These can provide tax benefits to the donor and help a charitable organization. Please notify the VNAPC, if you plan to make this type of gift. Staff can provide delivery instructions and an acknowledgement letter for tax purposes.
Life Insurance: You can consider donating a policy with cash surrender value that you no longer require for its original purpose. You may also name VNAPC as the beneficiary for your employer-provided group life insurance policy.
ALL GIFTS WILL BE USED FOR SERVICES IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY!
